Let Go 07:20
I cannot see, I cannot hear I cannot feel me Paralyzed by my fear Unable to be Dwelling in a never-ending night Sheets of never-melting snow My torn self will only be held tight Tight if I let go (Let go) Creating my own torment How can I let it end? Feeding my burning pain How to undo the chain? Forging my own woe How can I, how can I let go? (Let go) I cannot run, I cannot hide From agony within Am I condemned to abide Forever herein? Dwelling in a never-ending night Sheets of never-melting snow My torn self will only be held tight Tight if I let go (Let go) (I'm convicted, this is self-inflicted Must I play the victim in my martyr's show? My mind's conflicted, am I so addicted To what keeps me fixated on ...) Creating my own torment How can I let it end? Feeding my burning pain How to undo the chain? Forging my own woe How can I, how can I let go? (Let go) I'm convicted, this is self-inflicted Must I play the victim in my martyr's show? Disappear 05:25
Have you heard my call? I know we meet in fall Where it’s damp and cold Where stories are told Wind is moaning on a dark night I'm out of sight So I disappear like the mist Kissed by the warmth of the morning sun I cannot see distances I cannot see far But there's a kindly something That keeps me safe and warm (Safe from harm) I cannot see distances I cannot see far But there's a kindly something That keeps me safe and warm (Keeps me safe and warm)

There lived a lady by the North Sea shore Lay the bent to the bonnie broom Two daughters were the babes she bore Fa la la la la la la la la la A knight came riding to the lady's door He'd travelled far to be their wooer He courted one with gloves and rings But loved the other above all things "Oh sister, will you go with me To watch the ships sail on the sea?" She took her sister by the hand And led her down to the strand And as they stood on that windy shore The older threw her sister o'er And there she floated like a swan The salt sea bore her body on and on Two minstrels walked along the strand And saw the maiden float to land (Antoi impi hapsiansa, hienoja hivuksiansa antoi hasta viisi, kuusi, ...) They made a harp of her breastbone Whose sound would melt a heart of stone (... sekä seitsemän hivusta: siit' on kielet kantelessa, ääntimet iki-ilossa.) They took three locks of her yellow hair And with them strung the harp so rare They went into her father's hall To play the harp before them all But as they laid it on a stone The harp began to play alone The first string sang a doleful sound: "The bride her younger sister drowned" The second string, as that they tried In terror sits the black-haired bride The third string sang beneath their bow: "And surely now her tears will flow" (Saip' on soitto valmihiksi. Siitä vanha Väinämöinen istuiksen alakivelle, paatiselle portahalle.)

The Call 10:07
Rise from sleep Journey deep On and on Into the unknown Hear the call Risk a fall You're alone When you move into the unknown You're alone Some will say "You should never go that way" Some will say "Don’t you ever go astray" Some will say "Don't you dare to go away" Some will say "Stay" Dare to roam Far from home On and on Into the unknown Many more Gone before Not alone When you move into the unknown Never alone Some will try to never let you say goodbye Some will try to have you explain the reason why Some will try never to look you in the eye Some will try to cry You will die You will faint You will fail You will fail You will faint You will die You will ... Rise from sleep Journey deep On and on Into the unknown Many more Gone before Not alone When you move into the unknown Never alone When you move into the unknown Never alone Rise Unlearn Unbe Undo Unknow Unknow Unstay Pass away Fall into being Pass away Come ... ... Come into being As you pass away ...

"But soon I shall die, and what I now feel be no longer felt. Soon these burning miseries will be extinct. I shall ascend my funeral pile triumphantly, and exult in the agony of the torturing flames. The light of that conflagration will fade away; my ashes will be swept into the sea by the winds. My spirit will sleep in peace; or if it thinks, it will not surely think thus. Farewell." When I am laid Am laid in Earth [May] my wrongs Create No trouble No trouble in thy Breast When I am laid Am laid in Earth [May] my wrongs Create No trouble No trouble in thy Breast Remember me, remember me But ah! forget my Fate Remember me But ah! forget my Fate Remember me, remember me But ah! forget my Fate Remember me But ah! forget my Fate

Floating 05:34
Smoke is floating off the roofs Smell of burned coal everywhere True love was born again Here and now forever True love was born again Here and now forever Hearts were broken Over and over again True love was born again Here and now forever True love was born again Here and now forever Coal is black, love can be dark Both of them have a powerful spark Treated well, both bring warmth Here and now forever True love was born again Here and now forever (Love was born again Here, now, forever)

I plead to know Unseen below The sheets of snow If seedlings grow That we once sowed When dreams were bold We'd weave our hopes To free our souls Release control Like streams that flow In deepest cold We peel from bones The fleeting moments Speak in poetry That holds the key Consoles our griefs of old We weep unspoken tears Evoke the scenes Where no one feels alone As leaves are blown from trees Through golden fields To slowly decompose And feed the loam beneath The roaming feet Of those who seek a home Too deep to know Too deep to know Concealed in troves unseen below A secret stowed too deep to know Concealed in troves unseen below (All shall be well, all shall be well) A secret stowed too deep to know (All shall be well ...) All shall be well And all manner of thing shall be well (All shall be well) When the flames are made into a crown And all manner of thing shall be well (All shall be well) When the fire and the rose are one When the fire and the rose are one A great good is coming Coming to thee A great good is coming All shall be well A great good is coming Coming to thee A great good is coming All shall be well (Feed the loam beneath The roaming feet of those Who seek a home Feed the loam beneath The roaming feet of those Who seek a home) (... Al shal be wel and al shal be wel And al manner thyng shal be wel ...) (... A great good is coming, is coming, is coming to thee ...) A great good is coming (... coming to thee) A great good is coming All shall be well

about

Ephemeral's debut album "Into Being" is a vivid tale of gloom and radiance. Musically anchored into a rich, layered and timeless progressive/dark-folk, with lyrics inspired by English literature from various centuries as well as by reflections on human longing, growth and nature.

In the band's own words: "Each song, in its own way, deals with the shedding of one’s old skin for a new one, following the path toward the unknown, and the beauty of letting go to give rise to new beginnings within the cyclical nature of life".
